Dear Readers,
We are quite proud of this issue, which includes a special section edited by Thomas Farrell (Brock University, Canada) on Reflective Practice in Teaching with eight articles on this important topic. Such special issues are welcomed by the editorial team despite the additional work that their production entails. This issue also has seven feature articles from a wide range of countries, but all with implications for teachers beyond their own borders: Iran (corrective feedback for teachers), India (vocabulary activation strategies), Chile (environmental education in Chile and Indonesia), Australia (embedding phonological training into vocabulary-focused instruction), Indonesia (gamified language learning), the UK (perezhivanie and professional growth), and Japan (feedback for speaking practice using AI). Also, as in the previous issue, this issue offers two “On the Internet” articles of current relevance.
Passages. First, we would like to thank Dylan Burton, who has been leading the Book Review team for close to four years. Joining Rachel Toncelli on the Review team is Dylan’s colleague at Georgia State, Dmitri Detwyler, who specializes in EFL/ESL teacher education. Welcome! We also are pleased to welcome four new co-editors to our team: Ha Hoang, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand; Ufuk Ataş, Artvin Coruh University, Türkiye; Nobuyuki Kamiya, Gumma Prefectural University, Japan; and Mandana Arfa-Kaboodvand, Westminster International University, Uzbekistan. All four of them had been reviewing submissions for TESL-EJ for 10 years or more and were among those selected for the “Best Reviewer Awards for 2024” announced in the previous issue.
Thanks to recent reviewers. We thank the reviewers of all submissions that had reached a decision since our last issue – regardless of whether the paper was accepted or declined.
